Antique Booth Photos - January 2013

Its a new year and a new month at Bottoms Up Antique Market!  I have lots of exciting plans to expand My So Called Junky Life.  In the meantime I am all set up for this months sale, which happens to be this weekend!!

I am planning on doing some fun Valentine's Day stuff for next month, but got a little head start with these handmade flower tags.  I usually stay away from red, but I think this year I will decorate with pink, white AND red!!  That is a huge step for me because I do no usually use bold colors...........EVER!!!!!  Well that is not entirely accurate - I do decorate with green and red for Christmas, but I struggle because I never use these colors otherwise and its hard to make it look pretty.

While I was setting up this evening I received a frantic call from Dillon and my husband.  My youngest had gotten a nose bleed and they were panicking and not sure what to do.  I was informed that it was "gushing" out of his nose and did they need to take him to the ER, etc.  I told them to just pinch the top part of his nose with an old rag for at least 10 minutes.  My husband was worried so I stayed on the phone while they stopped the bleeding.  The phrase "lots of blood" kept being used and so I asked "Exactly how much blood were we talking about?"  Dillon informed me that it was at least a liter of blood lost and I admit that my heart skipped a beat for a second until my husband said no it was more like a couple of teaspoons.  They sure know how to freak out a mama for a moment!  After 10 minutes the bleeding had stopped and everything was back to normal!  Thank goodness!!

I had these benches scattered throughout my booth and didn't realize I had this many.  I thought it would make a big statement if I stacked them on top of each other instead.  And there are still two other ones being used elsewhere in the booth!  All white too!

This is my little "New Years" corner.  Above is the old crib springs with the "Hello 2012!" that you saw in the first picture.

I have had some requests for simpler jewelry made from vintage findings, so this is my attempt at that.  I made necklaces with antique mother of pearl buttons, rhinestone shoe/fur clips and old chandelier octagons.  They all feature sterling silver chains and clasps and I will be interested to see how well these are received.

The "LOVE" letters I covered in burlap.  Still like little touches of burlap even thought I keep hearing its on its way out.  I feel like that I need to do what I love rather than all the current trends.  Still, I pay attention and see what current trends are and try to incorporate a little bit if I can in My So Called Junky Life way.

What do you think the trends will be in the vintage/antique world this year?

It's probably a good thing that I don't live closer to you. I just love it all and would probably be shopping all the time!

It all looks beautiful!! A stack of benches always looks good to me. I had to chuckle about the nose bleed. I used to get them as a kid and it did seem scary until the about the third one when I knew what to do! Happy New Year!!
