As a jewelry designer, it isn't often that I create a piece for myself to enjoy. I have set out making something for myself, but then turn around and sell it because I am in business and I have to make money. Last month I came across this great store on Etsy called Lipstick Gypsy and fell in love with her customizable hand stamped spoon pendants and knew I had to have one!
Well it arrived in the mail and I loved it so much I bought another one for one of my besties, Amanda of Funkyshique. (Shhhhhh!!! Don't tell Amanda because she hasn't received it yet, but she never reads my blog so I figured I would share her necklace with you!) I had so much fun playing with these spoon pendants! Much different then the usual rhinestone piece, but I am very happy with the way both necklaces turned out.
Now I have a question for you readers. This dress form in the picture was a curbside find and boy was it ugly! It also has no base and I am still deciding whether I want to attach a base or not or leave her as a table top dress form. I decided to paint her white, but I am not sure I like this bright white look. Should I add a glaze or leave her as is? I was also thinking about adding a French/Paris inspired stamp, but wasn't sure if I should add it to the bottom or up by her neck area. Any thoughts?

I love the pendants and what you did with them!
Definately tone down the white, and put the stamps somewhere that it will just peek into phots.
Love the stamped spoons and your necklace. I would also tone down the white by glazing. You "find" the best stuff!
The necklaces are gorgeous. . .
Look forward to seeing how 'Dolly' turns out.
Thanks so much for sharing, I will take a look. My first visit to your special space here and I am so pleased I found you. I know I am going to enjoy many visits. I will follow on my way out and hope you can find the time to come visit me and do the same. I look forward to engaging throughout twenty twelve with you. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
The jewelry is great!! I would leave the form the height it is and tone it down a little bit (or even make it a light aqua)

Love the jewelry!!
I also love the dress form white, I am about to paint mine!
I love these sweet spoons all dressed up with rhinestones. Your lady is fabulous, but I might tone her down a bit. What a find!
I would add a glaze and add the stamp up by the neck! Such a lucky find! And I love your necklaces!
karen....
Right now your gal is way too pristine. A sepia glaze and even a little distressing with some sandpaper here and there, a stamp by the neck and people will be begging you to sell her. If you choose to make her a floor model sometimes, rig up an old floor lamp base that can be removed when you feel like making her a table top gal.
And some "after" photos would be fun to see.
I would glaze the dress form up some to give it an "older" look. Would even try a grayish glaze -- if there is one. I so love the white, gray and brown look I see so much of today.
I love those!!! Thank you for the sweet comment on my blog post. I have had amazing support from friends near and far! Thank you muchly
Julie :)
Hi Sarah,
Thanks for stopping by my booth....so glad you found some stuff :) I stopped by the booth briefly on Sunday...too bad I missed you!!
I love the jewelry, such fun! And what a curbside find! I never find anything like that on the side of the road!! Take care.

Nice Find! If it were my dress form, I would antique the edges with light greys or browns, adding darker layers at the hard edges of the form to make it look like it has used over time.
Then, I would cover the whole thing in slighty yellow tinted petite porcelain crackle glaze.
If you are going to add imagery/graphics, I would keep then out of the main focal point where you would be photographing your jewelry, so it wouldn't compete.
As far as a stand... My first thought is to use the bottom half of an old coat rack or something with thick ornate feet that you could attach to the dress form?
OMG! sARAH!! I just saw this!! Youare so sneaky!! But wow! The necklaces are tooooo cute! I cant wait to wear it!!! {Love he little white hearts too!} Thank you so much!!!!
And a 'curb side find'?? You have all the luck! She needs your creative touch for sure!Im sure it'll turn out great, as all your stuff does!!How about cover her in doilies, or paper flowers?
