Hot! Hot! Hot!

It was hot here in Missouri today, in fact as I am typing this at 1:10 a.m. it is currently 86 degrees. Yuck! Tomorrow won't be any better and we are looking at another day in the triple digits. So since it is too hot to be outside I decided to take the boys on a little shopping trip to a local antique mall. Nice cool air conditioning and sweet cool treats afterwards.

This is my newest hat that I found. So gorgeous! Of course Colton had to try it on (don't tell dad!) These are gorgeous millinery flowers and I am working on a special swap where these flowers will be the perfect embellishment.

And then every time we passed a hat he had to grab it and put it on too. Of course this one wasn't the kind I was looking for, but he sure looks like he is having fun. I find that the more involved he is in helping me find "treasure" the better behaved he is. We must sound silly to other shoppers when they overhear us talking about being pirates and looking for our treasure, but it can be so fun playing make believe. Colton calls himself the pirate king and loves to look for his perfect "crown."

I found this absolutely gorgeous trunk and then I opened it up and this is what I found! Of course, the price was a bit steep for my taste (why is it most of the things I love are like that?) but it is one of the dealers that has regular sales so maybe I will get lucky?

I really like the whole shabby chic/cottage/country look. I loved this table and chairs, but white with three young boys don't really mesh very well. I pretty much stick to darker more neutral colors in their bedrooms and the living room because dirt seems to follow them everywhere they go. Maybe some day though, in my far away dreams I can have a house that looks like this.

Aside from my hat, I found these beautiful French postcards and just had to have them. They are so beautiful, my pictures don't do them justice. I have been thinking about a way to use some of the images from my French postcards to incorporate into some art projects, but I can't seem to bring myself to use them.....yet.

After a fun time at the antique mall, I took the boys out for dinner at Zarda's BBQ. And we finished off the day with ice cream and cuddling up on the couch to watching Bug's Life. An end to a wonderful day!

I have exactly the same problem, I would love to decorate more shabby chic but my kids would wreck havoc and I probably couldn't get hubby to go along anyway!
